PERMISSIONS
All enrollment section classes require a permission number in addition to the class number in order to enroll from the first day of classes until the end of the add/drop period.
Enrollment sections are generally the primary component of a course. For example CHEM 127-01 is a lecture (i.e., the enrollment section) and sections 02 thru 05 are labs (i.e., the non-enrollment sections).
How to use a Permission...
- Go to the first class meeting and obtain a Permission (formerly ePermit) number from the instructor for enrollment sections only. (See note above about what is an enrollment section).
- On CPReg, click on the "Add a class " link, enter the class number of the class you are trying to add, and click SUBMIT. You will then be prompted for a Class Permission Number. NOTE ~ If a related component is required you must also enter it at the same time as the permission number. Click OK. You should then see "Success" which completes the enrollment process.
When is the last day to ADD your class using a Permission Number on CPReg?
- You have until the 8th day of the term to enter your permission number along with the class number into CPReg.
How do I switch sections (Swapping a class), once I have a Permission? ("Swapping a class" is temporarily under repair/construction)
- On CPReg, click on the Swap class link. The classes you are currently enrolled in will display. Enter the class number for the class you want to swap into, then click SUBMIT. AT that time, you will be prompted for a Class Permission Number (and related component class number if one is required). Click "OK" You should then see "Success" which completes the enrollment process. NOTE ~ If you want to "swap" a non-enrollment or lab component you must still obtain a permission number from the instructor of the lecture because you must drop the existing lecture and then enroll in the same lecture and new lab section. Please refer to the Swapping a Class information page for more detailed information.
When will a Permission not work?
- If a related component is required and you didn't enter the related component class number.
- If the class you are trying to enroll in has a time conflict with another class you are already enrolled in.
- The class you are trying to add will put you over the 22 units allowed.
- You do not meet the requirements for a class. A permission number can be used to override the requirement of the class, but only if the instructor notifies the department office first.
IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER !
- Each permission number can only be used one time. If you try enrolling in a class and are not successful, then the permission number you were given will no longer be valid and you will need to contact the instructor to obtain another number.
- Review and print your schedule for accuracy. (use my.calpoly.edu)
