Major Change Evaluations

After a student is formally accepted into a major, the Evaluations Office automatically provides an evaluation in the new major. To begin the major change process, please visit the Office of Academic Records (Bldg 1, Room 222) to obtain a 'Major Change' request form. Student's also must visit the 'new' major department for official requirements and qualifications for changing/being accepted to that major.

Double Majors
A student may be granted a bachelor's degree with two majors if all requirements of both curricula are satisfied at the same time. However, no more than one diploma or degree will be granted to a student for the same term. In the event that a student has completed the requirements for two different degrees, i.e., Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science, he/she will be required to declare one, as the degree major in order to determine which degree will be awarded. The fact that the requirements of another program have been completed will be noted on the transcript.

Second Bachelor's Degree
A student holding a bachelor's degree from Cal Poly or from another accredited institution may be awarded a second bachelor's degree in a different major. A minimum of 45 units of course work for Cal Poly graduates and 50 units for graduates from another accredited institution must be completed in residence after the requirements for the first degree have been fulfilled.
